I rarely post family photos, but will make an exception on this special 3rd Sunday in June. THE SAVVY SHOPPER is more of a writing than a picture blog. The content is primarily the written word over stills or video, but not today!
In honor of Father's Day, here are a few photographs of my father and me back-in-the-day.
Here we are enjoying a sunny day.
However long we have our parents, it is never enough. We miss this amazing man everyday. No one can ever fill his shoes.

Here I am visiting home. |
Inevitably, the cycles of life touch us all. "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night!" Listen to Welsh poet Dylan Thomas read his famous villanelle here, written for his own father.

About Dad (And Mom) On Father's Day
Hi Debbie, what a dear, cute little girl you were with your Dad at the zoo. This is a sweet tribute to him, and I am sure you miss him very much. A lovely shot of you as a young woman too. I am sure he was very proud of you. It is not Father's Day here, but a cheer for all the fathers, everywhere!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken, Australians honor fathers in September. Perhaps countries want a warm season so there can be barbecues and nice family outings.:)
DeleteTrish, I remember you lost your father relatively recently. Thankfully, we both have warm, good memories of our Dads!
This is a touching absolutely awesome blog- a day for celebrating special people and memories of them
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day to you, Barry. Hope your girls are paying you a visit.
DeleteDearest Debbie,
ReplyDeleteLove your precious pictures here with their story!
A bittersweet FINAL Father's Day visit for me today... Did not go as planned but got to see Dad in the hospital where he ended up yesterday. A very emotional farewell, especially between him and Pieter. Did tell Dad that this was our last visit and it feels good for having pulled this off; however difficult.
Hugs,
Mariette
Flying home tomorrow...
Good, bad or ugly, I believe in dealing with what comes along. It is not easy to see parents aging, plus live far apart. I'm sorry you must deal with such sadness, but I'm sure you cherish anytime spent with your father, as well as, the chance to say goodbye.
