Christmas Greetings From THE SAVVY SHOPPER

The Christmas Tree in Carl Schurz Park at East 86th Street and East End Avenue, New York City

As we end 2018, may a little sparkle and shine enter your life. Wishing you joy in the present, a clear-eyed past and a bright future!
A decoration in a corner of my New York City apartment. This year it shares its spot with a tin of basil.
Peace and goodwill to my readers around the globe. We are one human community, who celebrate our differences and note how much we are alike. Be kind to one another!

Love to each and every one of you! Happy holidays everyone, where they fall on your calendars; and Merry Christmas to all who celebrate today!

  1. Dearest Debbie,
No doubt you are in THE BEST city for observing Christmas sparkle! Lovely tree in your photo.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, as the day is already winding down... hard to believe how fast time goes!
Wishing you a quiet and peaceful ending of 2018 and a Happy New Year!
    Hugs,

  2. Thanks, Mariette! You are right about NYC having much sparkle. I feel I have so many Christmas trees outside, I can decorate more subdued at home, keeping the spirit of the holiday, In America we start Christmas too early. In older times, the 12 Days of Christmas have only begun ending January 6th. Back then, it was more of a religious holiday and less of a commercial one. One thing reminds the same, an appreciation of family and friends.

Wishing you warm, good wishes also!

  5. Merry Christmas, dear Debra. We spent it alone, just the two of us. There were some health issues and an unexpected surgery in my husband's family (nothing major, thankfully) and, as you know, I have no family in this country. So, it was very quiet and very lovely. No complaints. I was with my favorite person in the whole world.

Hope yours was spent w/those you love.

    Cheers, M-T

  6. It was quiet here too. As you get older, people have moved out of the city and one loses people. It is to be expected. I appreciate the Christmases I don't have to travel, yet will travel to see people too.
