Venus Et Fleur Roses Last A Year

Every year on my birthday I get a beautiful vase of flowers, but they rarely last more than a week. It's a big expense that all too soon ends up in the garbage. How would you like to smell the roses for a long period of time? Believe it or not, now you can.
Venus Et Fleur is a flower company which has figured out a way to give real roses ... well a shelve life. Their roses are treated with a special formula and process to preserve the color, freshness, biological structure, softness and scent for up a year.
Supplied by growers in Ecuador, the roses are cut at their peakiness and treated with a non-toxic, non-allergic wax formula (similar to silica). Next the roses sit in dye to enhance or change their color before being styled and arranged in Parisian keepsake boxes.

The only maintenance needed is a light dusting from time to time. The retailer recommends keeping the flowers out of direct sunlight, and you do not water them. They also stay in their box.
Venus Et Fleur Everlasting Roses are popular with celebrities, hotels and weddings. A small box costs $299, and a large or special collection can run between $399 to $589. Oddly enough, buying a single rose at $99 is the cheapest, but not the best value.

    I'm really not sure about this one! They look beautiful, but it seems a bit weird. And it is an expensive process. However, like many things, they might become mass-produced and therefore cheaper to buy.

      Trish, I have agree. The idea sounds a bit odd, as many things that change nature do. Next time I'm in or visit a hotel, I'm going to check the flowers.

    Dearest Debra,
    Being born and raised in a country that exports the most flowers in the world, including roses, I have a hard time believing this nor liking it.
    Outrageous pricing too.
    My previous roses bought at Trader Joe's for $ 6.99 lasted a full two weeks... You can get an awful lot of fresh roses for the amount mentioned here above.
    Their web presence is only a mere 385 versus your blog 429; go figure!

      Mariette, this idea reminds me alot of embalming, so it seems a little spooky.

      You raise a good point about being able to buy fresh roses many times over for the cost of these. I don't think of roses as an investment. Perhaps it makes more sense for a business like a hotel. Less for the workers to replace, and since the guesses come and go, they don't have time grow tired of the same arrangements. Thanks for your thoughtful accessment. :)
