Looks even sleeker and more stylish then it photographs. |
1) Women Ultra Light Down Compact Vest - ↑ (top image) - This item can be worn as an inner or outer layer. It repels light rain and snow. Has outside and interior pockets, as well as, snap buttons. Takes up no room to store in a closet, or rolled up in a backpack.
2) Women Heattech Extra Warm T-shirt - Cozy and soft, yet made to handle the most extreme cold. Durable, moisture absorbing fabric you can wear as a layer or a normal top. Also comes in a crew or scoop neck ... so if you have a preference, pay attention when placing your order.
3) Women Heattech Extra Warm Leggings - Like the matching t-shirt, the leggings are soft and stretchy for ease of moment. A high waist stays in place. Opique -- absoluely not see-through (yay!). Keeps out the cold, but absorbs moisture to feel comfortable against your skin. Wraps you in warmth and is machine washable.
I bought all 3 pieces in black for versatility to go with my entire wardrobe, but there is a selection of colors. A basic black or neutral color can mean that buying less is more!

I love it when you go to Uniqlo, Debbie. The vest does look sleek, and I would love that warm black tee: we are going south for a few days and it will be cold. Meanwhile I went into our Uniqlo today, and there are lovely linen shorts and cute tee tops for Summer, plus sweet little shift dresses. Must have a little session there next week :)
ReplyDeleteTrish, I'm so happy that you can now shop at Uniqlo in Brisbane too. Another groupie in the making. Customers just can't beat the quality at such affordable prices.
DeleteI went to see the new Alexander Wang collection ... which everybody looked to be buying in the store. It offered the same level of warmth, but was more athletic looking. Instead, I bought a sleeker look for the versatility. One of my neighbors (once said to me as we were both exiting the building) that I was always dressed up. I thanked him and revealed that 95% of the time, I'm wearing a t-shirt in one one form or another. But I was SO PLEASED to know that my strategy of being cooridinated was working! :)
I'm also thrilled that Uniqlo gives me so many good blogs to write. They seemed to have opened their apparal business for the readers of THE SAVVY SHOPPER! I have become their unpaid spokeswoman.
These pieces look stylish and functional. I may have to purchase some "walking around NYC" pieces as opposed to my "driving around NJ" wardrobe. I spend a lot of time in NYC during the opera season, as you know, and am always aware that the wind makes everything feel colder, especially those wind tunnels between high-rise buildings, as you walk around the Big Apple. And I do LOVE walking around Manhattan.
ReplyDeleteI just found out that there is a Uniglo store in Philadelphia, which is right over the Ben Franklin Bridge, 10/15 mins. from me. I will definitely check it out.
Cheers, M-T
Marie-Thérèse, l know you'll love the style, quality and prices. Japanese innovation and style rocks! Some of what I see there is seeping into American fashion brands (but alas at higher price points).
DeleteWhen you visit the store, be sure to look at their sweathers also. During the autumn and winter, I get so much use out of my merino wool cardingans, and they are showing no signs of wear.
Happy finds at Uniqlo!
Dearest Debbie,
ReplyDeleteThose Down Vests and Jackets are a blessing for traveling light. I wore mine on the trip to the Canadian Rockies and so did Pieter. Love the inside pockets in the vest and the zippered outside pocket in mine. This looks like a very smart choice for awaiting Old Man Winter in your area!
Here it rains and rains and it does delay our renovation... Tomorrow it is 4 weeks ago that they started!
Today I've started tutoring again at our local Technical College. Made me tired, also due to the weather and on the eyes with no daylight! Hate the dark months ahead.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh my dear Mariette, I dislike the time change in the fall as well ... dark by 6 pm! Tomorrow it will turn cold, snowing in the afternoon then turning into rain. I will be wearing my Uniqlo purchases.
DeleteNowadays I try to buy everything compact ... even home goods as I value the extra space. Recently at TJ Maxx, I saw a collection of stemless wine glasses and was tempted to buy them to stack in my cupboard, and thus freeing up space. But I was too cheap to follow through since I have perfectly good wine glasses with steams that I shouldn't toss out. Perhaps in the future.

DeleteThe older I got and the more sensitive my skin gets, I find that good quality Merino Wool still feels like heaven. I will definitely check out the cardigans, as you suggest.
ReplyDeleteCheers, M-T
I have about 4 Uniqlo menino cardigans in different colors. They look great and the quality is excellent. I happen to have 2 cashmere sweaters I bought years ago from Lands End. The menino cardigans wear better. They stay new looking despite wearing them to death. A navy man once told me wool will keep us warmer than cashmere on wet, rainy days. So two reasons to own menino wool.
