Old Navy's Sleeveless Jersey Swing Dress

When I heard this dress was flying off the racks at Old Navy because women were buying multiples of them (one woman bought 9!), I didn't know what to think. Compulsive buyers??? By nature, I tend to be an under buyer. Then I did it myself! In a week of 96 degree temperatures, I bought and wore the dress in 2 colors ... than bought 2 more colors for a total of 4 dresses at $15 each.
So out of character for me, but Old Navy's Sleeveless Jersey Swing Dress is the perfect summer dress. The soft, substantial jersey fabric is unbelievably comfortable and stylish. It doesn't grab you in the middle, or cling anywhere else in the scorching summer heat. Although I prefer cotton over rayon, as the material is more durable, I can live with this rayon and spandex dress. It is plush and cool!

As cute as the picture is, it doesn't do the jersey swing dress justice. Slip it on ... and wow! The above knee length is just right, and for once the dress length is neither too long or short. The round neckline and A-line, flare silhouette is a classic swing back to the iconic style of Jacqueline Kennedy and Betty Draper sans a steep price tag.
Dress the jersey swing dress up or down with shoes and accessories. The frock is flowy and flatters every height and figure! To beat the summer heat, fashionistas will wear the dress instead of shorts.

Easy to clean also: Machine wash in lukewarm water and hang to dry. The touch of spandex keeps it winkle-free.

Old Navy's Sleeveless Jersey Swing Dress is a 5-star wardrobe no-brainer!

  1. What a cute dress, and incredibly low in price. I love the first blue one, a great colour in the heat. I had not heard you had a heat wave of 96 deg temperatures. Also I see that in the south of France where we are heading, they are having 100F degree days. I am trying to quickly sew up some budget Summer clothes. Good for you, buying four. You are set for summer.

    1. So glad you approve, Trish, as you have both good common sense and good taste. Old Navy seems to always have these wonderful promotions, so there are great deals to be had there on everyday clothing! Everything machine washable too.

I can't wait to hear about your trip to the south of France! I can taste the wine and cheese already! Hope there are some cute little shops to explore also!

  2. Dearest Debbie,
Swing dress is a good name for this typical A-line dress from the late 60s when I went to fashion school we designed them and wore them.
Yes, they are very comfortable in wearing and Rayon is still a natural fiber and wears well.
Aren't we glad with the added Spandex nowadays, looking back some 50 years, we have lots of great fabric choices for more convenience.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. I like rayon for the coolness in summer, but I wear crossover bags when walking around Manhattan, and my bags have already rubbed and snagged the dresses in spots, which doesn't happen with cotton. The strap is smooth -- so it is the weight only that wears the fabric. Oh but you can't beat the style, comfort or price. Hope Old Navy brings them back every summer!
