Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary (April 21, 1926 - September 8, 2022) |
It's no secret that Americans love the British monarchy nearly as much as the British do, and Queen Elizabeth II is the only head of the family and realm many of us know in our lifetime. For 70 years the Queen ruled, and it seems unreal that she died today, but what a life of duty she lived for 96 years, and what an impeccable role model she was for the world. Rarely, if ever, stepping a foot wrong, and as one of her British subjects put it, "She never let us down." Of all the prominent people she met and illustrious events, she lead or took part in, perhaps being our rock by never letting us down is her true legacy.

Despite always knowing the day would come, it's impossible not to be sad and devastated about losing such a beloved Queen, Great Britain's longest reigning monarch. Again today we are reminded that it doesn't take long to live a life.

With a heavy heart, we send our condolences to her family and country. With certainty, we will miss her too, not only for the Queen that she was, but for the human being, she was. The twinkle of her eyes will always remain with us. R.I.P. Your Majesty, and long live your son, King Charles III (Confirmed today. Monarchs choose the name he or she will be known as). The King will address the nation tomorrow.π

Some people believe the Queen is letting us know she's in a good place, united with the people she loved. What do you think?
A beautiful tribute Debbie. What an amazing woman, a lifetime of duty and service with grace and humour, and such a generosity of spirity. I woke up to the news, and there have been a few tears today. We will miss her gentle presence as our Queen so much.
ReplyDeleteI am happy the Queen reached and participated in her 70th year Jubilee and also was able to greet her 15th prime minister, Liz Truss. But having only meet with PM Truss on Tuesday is likely why we were so shocked by the Queen's death on Thursday. Throughout her life, the Queen has always relied. It's one thing to be all the attributes we say about the Queen, it's another and quite remarkable to sustain that character over 96 years of the challenges and trails of lifetime.
DeleteYes, it was a shock, and that is why. I loved the last photo, so full of life. I wrote a blog post, am trying to get back into blogging; I have had trouble with Blogger. Hope you are well.
DeleteI have missed reading your blogs, Trish. Sorry you're having Blogger trouble! I have trouble with Blogger sometimes too especially when I post photos. Also the font within a post will get bigger than the rest of the copy and one can't see it until after you the post is published. In the "edit" window, the font is not bigger, but the same size as the rest of the copy. After I publish the blog, I must catch the font change and go back into edit to fix it. I wish Blogger would look into this glitch as I cannot be the only writer/blogger dealing with it. I chose Blogger as my platform because of the success of Google with the hopes they'd always support and keep Blogger updated and going. Time will tell, I suppose.
DeleteI'm well, but definitely felling sad these 2 days due to current events.
