5 New Maybelline Products in 2017

As stated in older blogs (which you can find in the search box), Maybelline has truly stepped up the quality of its makeup in recent years. At drugstore prices, it now rivils the luxe brands. With rich pigments and winning formulas, Savvy Shoppers can save lots of moola without compromise. Plus, Maybelline's inventory keeps improving, as well as, expanding. Here are 5 new products launching in January 2017, some are already out at places like Walgreens, Target and Walmart:

1) There is a new Maybelline The 24K Nudes palette, which I saw stocked already at Bed, Bath and Beyond. (Sending Angie Smith, reader and friend of THE SAVVY SHOPPER, an alert: Go to BB&B ASAP to pick one up! You will love it like the first 3 The Nudes!!) 

The 24K Nudes palette reminds me of THE NUDES (warm, natural colors) with a bit of shimmer (like the Rock Nudes palette). All 4 The Nudes palettes are natural hues, with the Rock Nudes leaning towards cool colors; whereas the others: The Nudes, The Blush Nudes and now the 24K Nudes leaning towards warmer colors.)

2) More matte lip colors are coming out. Look for Maybelline Matte Nude Lipstick, as well as, it's Vivid Matte Liquids.

3) Maybelline Dream Cushion - is a full coverage cushion foundation that offers a luminous finish.

4) Maybelline Face Studio Master Camo Color Correcting Kit - is a palette with 5 color correction concealers, plus a pearly highlighter. There are 3 versions of the kit to match different skin tones.

5) Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot - A new mascara with a new brush and collagen-mousse-like forumula to keep it from flaking and clumping as it volumizes lashes.

Other new Maybelline products launching include a Brow Highlighting Pencil, Face Hightlighter Liquid in a tube, pigmented Baby Lip Balm Crayons and a special edition eyeshadow that is now only available on Amazon.

Most of Maybelline's products cost from $5 - $10. Where else can you get non-better mascara for $6, or a makeup palette with rich pigments for an Alexander Hamilton!? Plus, drugstores and BB&B offer deals, taking more money off. Look polished for oodles less!

Save On Cosmetics At Bed, Bath And Beyond

 

Wow, Bed, Bath & Beyond is the best place ever to shop for cosmetics and personal care products.

The store near my home has a huge beauty section, so there's plenty of choice. Just like stepping into Sephora ... for less! BB&B is often several dollars cheaper per makeup item, compared to Sephora or the corner drugstore. One example is Maybelline lipstick: At Duane Reade/Walgreens, the lipstick is $8.99 verses $5.50 at BB&B.

But it doesn't stop there! BB&B offers their own Hermon Face Value knockoff brand on many popular products, so customers can save as much as $10 on a single product without compromising on quality. Olay's Regenerist Micro-Sculping Cream at $24.99 has a Hermon knockoff selling for $14.99. I buy nothing but the Harmon brand knockoff of Listerine's Whitening  Anticavity mouthwash. It costs half of what Listerine does.

Plus when I get to the cash register, I pull out a Bed, Bath And Beyond coupon, saving another 20% off a single article. BB&B is very liberal with their coupons. If you sign up, you get their coupons via email -- those expire. But any paper coupons you clip out of magazines, or receive in the mail are honored past their expiration dates. So hang onto them! 

I had a $20 coupon from Maybelline, which was about to expire, so last Thursday I stopped by BB&B to redeem it.

Using my Maybelline manufacturer's coupon along with two BB&B (20% off a single item) coupons, I brought home the following Maybelline cosmetics:

Minus coupons, my grand total was an unbelievable $1.88. How's that for savvy shopping? Happy Belated Birthday to me!

And don't worry about BB&B's bottom line. The Maybelline coupon is like cash to them, and over time I buy plenty of bedding and other housewares there as well. In fact, on Saturday I returned to buy an 800 fill goose down bed pillow. Wow, that's a big ouch out of a budget, even with 20% off!

Eye Shadow Launches: Chanel & NARS

Eyeshadow palettes are so chic and pretty, it's impossible not to take notice when beauty companies launch new ones. Designed with colors to mix and match to create a variety of looks, you can go from subtle to dramatic by layering the shades.

Chanel just launched the above Les 9 Ombres palette, which it calls multi-effects shadows. Created by Lucia Pica, the combination of bold and neutral tones are inspired by the frescoes of Pompeii. The 9 long-lasting shades are a medium intensity pigment to make them ultra blendable. Cost: $70

NARSissist Wanted (above↑) is another new high-end eyeshadow palette from retailer NARS. Launched in December, it is also formulated to be very blendable and have staying power. The 12 lovely shades come in 4 textures: mats, shimmers, statins and glitters. Featured are seductive nudes, shimmering rose golds and a versatile range of pale pinks. Cost: $59.

Certainly, the quality is top-notch coming from Chanel and NARS, but if you'd rather spend much less on your eyeshadow palettes, you would not be disappointed with the many choices of Maybelline palettes. The prices may be less, but the quality, selection of colors and rich pigments are high-end. Previously, I reviewed Maybelline's larger (4 palettes of 12 shades) known as The Nudes. The last one here. Cost: About $10 each.

3 of the 7 Maybelline City Minis

Furthermore, last year Maybelline launched 7 City Mini palettes, which are equally stunning, blendable and wearable. Cost: $6-$8, depending on where you buy it.

Joining the 7 other Maybelline City Mini palettes is the newest, The City Mini Palette Shayla with 6 new dramatic hues. Just like the luxe brands, the shimmers are not stark or overwhelming, yet appear polished and natural. Plus, there is no annoying fallout. The Maybelline shadow stays put.

It's always worth knowing what the high-end brands are bringing out. Occasionally you may wish to splurge, but Maybelline (and lately L'Oreal) have truly stepped up their game. For a bit of glamour, customers can't go wrong with any of the eyeshadow palettes. They are all gorgeous!♥

Maybelline launched yet another gorgeous nude palette in early 2020. Its Nudes of New York Eyeshadow Palette contains 16 creamy mix and match shades that are universally flattering on every skin tone: light, medium or dark. Luscious and rich pigments, rivaling top brands Urban Decay and Too Face, glide on smooth to last all day long. The palette makes a fabulous splurge or no-fail, holiday gift that won't break the bank! Just when you think drugstore beauty couldn't get any better Maybelline launches new products to try. Let's go from brows to lips in featuring a few:

Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon: There are 4 colors: Blond, Soft Brown, Deep Brown and Auburn. The crayon sculpts, tames and colors your brows. Well defined eyebrows frame and accentuate your entire face.

The Rock NUDES eyeshadow palette joins its sister palettes, namely, THE NUDES and The Blushed NUDES. The Rock NUDES are edgy, sultry, metallic and smoky with a combination of light and dark shades. Over the weekend I bought this newest palette and will step out of my comfort zone, as I don't often apply eyeshadow. Well ...  that is about to change!

Lash Sensational Luscious Waterproof Mascara - This comes in 2 shades: Very Black and Brownish Black. Angie Smith, friend and reader of THE SAVVY SHOPPER, highly recommends it. She says, the Lash Sensation mascara "is a miracle, this doesn't track at all!" After hours of wear, "no black smudges or flakes" appear.

FACESTUDIO Master Contour blush palette. Define your cheeks with 1) blush, 2) bronzer and 3) highlighter. It has rich, natural pigments that last all day.

Angie says they are "better than Chanel's Glossier ... and at a fraction of the price!" Personally, I'm a big fan of nude, which is the new chic lip color this spring. Angie has convinced me to pair the gloss in nude with Maybelline's Romantic Rose lipstick. Sounds lovely. 

Maybelline is truly churning out a huge line of quality beauty products for less moola. With drugstore deals, you can splurge and save simultaneously. Perhaps it's time to try a few new colors!

Fake A Warm Glow With A Bronzer

We know how bad the sun is for our skin. It causes premature aging and skin cancer. A tan is the skin's attempt to protect itself from the sun's damaging rays. I don't know about you, but I wear sunscreen and walk in the shade, as well as, cover myself up in cotton clothing and a visor if I'm in the sun for more than a few minutes.

So what is a pale face to do to look healthy and sun kissed? Fake it, of course with a quality brozner. 

Contour your face like a celebrity: Brush bronzer on the temples, chin and under the cheek bone to create shadows at the edges.

A bronzer can also give your face a tan-like-glow. It is what I call sun kissed, and it is the main purpose of a bronzer. Bronzer adds warmth to a porcelain face. There is sometimes shimmer in the color which acts as a highlighter.

Maybelline just launched a FaceStudio Master Bronze Kit, which I am eager to try. Drugstores and Bed, Bath and Beyond don't have it yet; but it is listed on Amazon and Ulta. Since Maybelline's blush palettes, eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks and other cosmetics are top-notch (i.e., as good as luxe brands), I expect to love the new Master Bronze Kit too. As opposed to a flat-bronze-appearance, this is formulated to give the face a multi-dimensional bronze glow.

10 Best Mascaras

Introducing a friend or sister to new beauty products is lots of fun, and mascara makes a fabulous stocking stuffer. Whether a woman wears it everyday or not, most of us keep a tube of mascara in our makeup bag.

Some beauty products require spending big bucks to get better ingredients because top ingredients matter, but mascara isn't one of them. Regardless of whether you save or splurge, all formula's of mascara do basically the same thing. There are some very fine brands of drugstore mascara available.

A great mascara lengthens and volumizes your lashes without clumping or flaking off, and you shouldn't end up with raccoon eyes at the end of the day. Sometimes a great  mascara has an innovative brush that makes separating, lengthening, or curling the eyelashes easier. One brush might be designed to give you natural, yet defined lashes, while another is designed to create drama.
